El Dorado Restaurant and Beach Club

That music you were just listening to is performed by Alberto Perez, the owner of the La Palapa Group of Restaurants. Those are La Palapa, Puerto Vallarta’s Oldest Restaurant on the famous Los Muertos Beach, and The El Dorado Restaurant and Beach Club right next door so you can enjoy that fantastic view of the Los Muertos Pier all lit up at night in beautiful colors, or during the day in its grand splendor for breakfast, lunch or dinner, seated with our toes in the sand right at the water’s edge. It’s so romantic, it’s so, Puerto Vallarta my friends.

This week we are going to hear from some of our visitors to the Meet and Greet at Kelly’s Pour Favor last Tuesday, we had quite a good group up on the rooftop, but before we get to those interviews, let’s see what’s happening this week, the 6th of October, 2018.

I’m coming to you from the rooftop of Malecon Two, atop my Airbnb Condo. I got is for a steal for just $42 a night. It’s one of those new listings with a great introductory price. It’s a choice location right above Devils’ Bar and Vitea Restaurant. I can actually see Gabino Sandoval, the pull-tab purse maker just below me. It’s pretty cool. I’ll put a picture of it in the show-notes for you to see at www.puertovallartatravelshow.com.

Before I came here, I stayed the first half of my stay in a pretty decent Airbnb in the 5th of Dicembre neighborhood, way up on the top of Calle Argentina. It had a sweet view, air conditioning and was only $25 a night. And, Alex, the owner told me he has 40 properties he rents starting at $25 all the way up to $450 a night. So, Alex will be coming on the podcast in a future episode. I spent last night in Mayto, and I’ll be telling you about that in an upcoming episode, and well, I’ve been really busy finding some interesting interviews for you. It’s been really fun I must say.

It’s hot and humid here in Vallarta right now, not too hot for me, but for some, it’s bordering on a little much. It’s hard to not break into a sweat, just walking around at a slow pace. But the real tip is to carry a cloth to wipe your brow and the back of your neck from time to time. Comes in handy. It works better than using your sleeve and yesterday I was walking around with a sleeveless top, and I had no cloth, towel to wipe the sweat, well, okay this is disgusting.  Just bring a towel or something okay?

Lions Club From Indiana, Coming To Fit Glasses for Puerto Vallarta Families in Need

Lions Club Eyeglass Mission

You may remember my talking about the Indiana Lions Club, District 25-G coming to Vallarta, back in May for the Meet and Greet I had Marty Juel on talking about the eyeglass mission to PV, and I have a note from Marty and it reads…

Barry, if you remember The Eyeglass Mission that our group will be having October 10-13, 2018.  Please consider putting a note in your show the week before and invite anyone to come see our operation.  We hold our event in the Lions Club building, located on Madero, right across the street from Bravos Restaurant.

We usually are not to the public, but if anyone would like to see our operation, they can stop and ask for me.  The people there will know

Lions Club in Puerto Vallarta

that someone may be stopping and will get me.  We love to show off what we’re doing.  Many of your listeners may already be supporting Lions by donating their used glasses.  From our Indiana location, we send approx. 15,000 used glasses for this four-day event.  We hope to see about 800 people each day from the 10th to the 13th of October. I also got an email a few days ago and he told me that they don’t have enough sign-ups for the event. They need more patients, so to my friends living here in Vallarta, especially those of you with affiliated with local charities, please let those charities know, and have them contact the local Lions Club in Vallarta.

Let’s not let this great opportunity to help those who cannot afford glasses, to see for better life.

And if you are in town and you are interested in what the lions do, stop by and let Marty know you want a tour.

Bus Fares Going Up in Puerto Vallarta From 7.5 Pesos, to 10 Pesos

Increase of bus fare in Puerto Vallarta to $10 pesos

Looks like with the new clean burning fuel buses coming on line, fares for taking a bus are going up. Here is the article from Vallarta Daily News dated October 6th 2018…it reads…

The bus fare in Puerto Vallarta will go from 7.5 to 10 pesos in a couple of weeks according to Gustavo Delgado Flores General director of public transportation in Jalisco. The increase will go into place just shortly after a new state Administration has been sworn into office, led by The PRI Aristoteles Sandoval Diaz who endorsed the decision that was taken unanimous unanimously by the Tariff Committee, a decentralized body composed of technical civil and representatives of the mobility Secretariat. During the press conference held it was announced that it is expected that by Year’s end at least 200 new buses will have been introduced to Puerto Vallarta with air conditioning. Currently 103 of the 120 units delivered by the company Dina, are in circulation. Of these, Romero Chavez explained, only 48 have air conditioning however, he promised that by next November 5th all trucks will be equipped with air conditioning. The announcement immediately caused dissatisfaction among users especially on social networks.

To combat the negative response the company will be conducting a massive information campaign through which they intend to raise awareness of “the benefits” of the new units and the “quality of service”.

They will place signs in different parts of the city and will hand out flyers so that more is known about the company and the increase that will be applied.

And you will find a link to that article in the show notes for this episode.

Well, visitors might be thinking hey just a 2.5 peso increase, no sweat, but the locals just got a 25% increase in bus fares. Ans as for air-conditioning on all the buses, I’ll believe it when I see it. I mean, why did they deliver these new buses without air-conditioning in the first place?

Okay, well, that’s a good time had by all. Loved Samara from Gold Leaf. She was full of some great information wasn’t she? Well…yes she was.

And don’t forget while in town, don’t miss the anniversary celebration at Gold Leaf Smoke Shop just up the street at Lazaro

Gold Leaf Smoke Shop, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Cardenas #379, in the Emiliano Zapata Neighborhood right here in Puerto Vallarta. Go there and tell Samara that you heard her on The Puerto Vallarta Travel Show. She would like that I think. Yes, she will like it. Now this show was a little late because, of technical difficulties, so We are going to miss next Thursday’s scheduled show, and start right back up on the 18th of October. Of course, the last time I said that I did one anyway, but not so much this time. At least that’s the plan.

Okay, looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow at Kelly’s.

Next week, stay tuned for more on the ground reports from Puerto Vallarta Mexico, with travel tips, great restaurant and excursion ideas and more.  Until then, remember, this is an interactive show where I depend on your questions and suggestions about all things Puerto Vallarta. If you think of something I should be talking about, please reach out to me by clicking on the Contact us tab and sending us your message.

And remember, if you are considering booking any type of tour while you are in Puerto Vallarta, you must go to Vallartainfo.com, JR’s website and reserve your tour through him, right from his website. Remember the value for value proposition. His experience and on the ground knowledge of everything Puerto Vallarta in exchange for your making a purchase of a tour that you would do anyway, you’re just doing it through him as a way of saying thank you. It costs no more than if you were to use someone else so do it. Really. And when you do take one of these tours, email me about your experiences. Maybe you can come on-board and share with others what you liked or didn’t like about the tour. Again, contact me by clicking on the Contact us tab and sending off a message. Don’t forget his maps, his DIY tours and his revitalized Happy Hour Board. I have links to all of those in the show notes.

And once again, if you like this podcast, please take the time and subscribe and give me a good review on iTunes if you would.
