I was surprised and pleased to find she has a Greek Restaurant called Eclecticos, and a cool art studio called Art Vallarta, both in Zona Romantica, so we are getting a trifecta of places, all from one guest, We have listener Marty talking tequila in Tequila, news and more so let\u2019s see what\u2019s happening this week in Puerto Vallarta, the 6<sup>th<\/sup> day of June, 2022\u2026<\/p>\n<h3>Puerto Vallarta Turned 104<\/h3>\n<p>May 31<sup>st<\/sup> marked the 104<sup>th<\/sup> birthday of Puerto Vallarta, her anniversary of being a municipality and 54 years as a city.<\/p>\n<p>Once named Las Pe\u00f1as de Santa Mar\u00eda. Eventually it grew and in 1885 was officially established under the name of La Pe\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>On May 31st 1918 the town received the title of municipality and from that day took the name of Puerto Vallarta in honor of Jalisco\u2019s then-governor, Ignacio L. Vallarta, and in 1968, 54 years ago it officially became the city of Puerto Vallarta.<\/p>\n<p>There was a celebration of fireworks and music. So nice to see people out and celebrating again.<\/p>\n<p>So happy belated birthday to Puerto Vallarta 104 don\u2019t look too bad\u2026.<\/p>\n<h3>The Rain Has Arrived in Vallarta<\/h3>\n<p>The rain has arrived, it\u2019s June and usually by the 15<sup>th<\/sup>, the first of the downpour has occurred. Bring insect repellant and I always wear long pants and shoes\u2026not sandals. I like to avoid the no-see-ums and mosquitos\u2026that\u2019s why.<\/p>\n<h3>E-Cigarettes are Illegal in Mexico<\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019ve run into a couple of you who have told me stories about having your vaping pens confiscated from you when you get to the airport and it seems there is a concerted effort to ban e cigarettes. Electronic cigarettes\u2026 this just in from Axios\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>Mexican President Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador (AMLO) on Tuesday signed a decree outlawing the sale of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/health\/vaping\">e-cigarettes<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/politics-health-caribbean-mexico-0379fcb161611f58588a6cc8de59c7fd\">Associated Press<\/a>\u00a0reports.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Why it matters:\u00a0<\/strong>The Mexican government has been pushing an anti-vaping policy, which includes a full ban of imports of e-cigarette devices, per AP.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The announcement was made<\/strong>\u00a0Tuesday morning during AMLO&#8217;s daily press briefing and on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/campaigns\/world-no-tobacco-day\">World No Tobacco Day<\/a>, an annual celebration to inform the public about the dangers of using tobacco, per the WHO.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Yes, but:\u00a0<\/strong>Despite Tuesday&#8217;s decree, many Mexicans still import or buy vaping cartridges and fluid online or &#8220;under the table,&#8221; per AP.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The big picture:<\/strong>\u00a0Mexico&#8217;s president in 2020 signed an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/perma.cc\/MM73-S9DZ\">executive order<\/a>\u00a0that banned the importation of electronic cigarettes.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>The executive order pointed to data from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/questions-and-answers\/item\/tobacco-e-cigarettes#:~:text=E%2Dcigarette%20emissions%20typically%20contain,been%20found%20to%20contain%20nicotine.\">World Health Organization<\/a>, saying that e-cigarette emissions &#8220;contain nicotine and other toxic substances that are harmful to both users, and non-users who are exposed to the aerosols second-hand.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So that kinda answers that question regarding having your e-cig taken from you at the airport\u2026 Guess you will have to buy your vape pen here when you get here. Bill\u2019s been on the show a couple of times, just recently at the Meet and Greet back last November and I had plans to have him and Suzie on and interview them both, but Suzie wasn\u2019t feeling well last time I was down to interview them so\u2026it never happened. By doing that he paid about $400 Us and saved himself about $800. I\u2019d be interested.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, let\u2019s get to our interviews, shall we?<\/p>\n<h3>Marty Goes to Tequila, Jalisco<\/h3>\n<p>Over the last few weeks I\u2019ve been teasing an interview I had with listener and frequent contributor Marty, from Indiana. And I told him I was. Marty also had a couple of first time Vallarta virgins with him Bob and Lisa from Indiana as well.<\/p>\n<p>So we had a pretty good turnout, but I wanted to hear about Marty\u2019s side trip to Guadalajara and Tequila town on his way to Puerto Vallarta. So, let\u2019s hear how they did it.
