It was around 11:30 in the evening, so it was dark, and she must have stumbled upon a crocodile who took a chunk out of her leg, about 25-30 cm worth. She began screaming of course so the authorities were alerted. Luckily there was a private ambulance nearby and she was taken to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/hospiten.com\/en\/hospitals-and-centers\/hospiten-puerto-vallarta\">Hospeten Puerto Vallarta<\/a><\/strong> not far from there. Hum, I wonder, did she have travelers insurance?<\/p>\n<p>I have a link to an article from <strong>Noticias PV<\/strong> in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.noticiaspv.com\/cocodrilo-ataca-a-turista-en-playa-del-hotel-marriot\/\">show-notes<\/a> if you want to have a look.<\/p>\n<p>So be careful walking on the beach in the dark. It seems the crocodiles are straying from their usual digs. There is word that their natural habitat is being disturbed by the huge developments going on up north, and that\u2019s what\u2019s up. That\u2019s why we are seeing more crocodiles, but I don\u2019t know. Just\u00a0 be careful. Remember you aren\u2019t going fishing along the Ameca, there are signs that state there are crocodiles all over there, but hey, whatever right? And now it seems, you aren\u2019t going for a stroll along the beach in the dark without a flashlight okay? Of course, I have always suggested you don\u2019t stroll the beach late at night in Vallarta, for safety reasons so there. Let\u2019s read from Mexico News Daily\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>Images of former president Benito Ju\u00e1rez and a gray whale replace those of artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera on the new 500-peso bill which entered circulation today.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Bank of M\u00e9xico (Banxico) officially launched the new blue-colored note at an event in Mexico City, where it was announced that it is the \u201cfirst in a new family of bills that pay homage to our historical identity and natural heritage.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The central bank said in a video that \u201cthe ecosystem of coasts, seas, islands and the gray whale\u201d and \u201cthe historic process of\u00a0La Reforma\u00a0[a 19th-century liberal reform] and the restoration of the republic\u201d feature together on the new 500-peso bill.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Ju\u00e1rez, a Zapotec lawyer from Oaxaca who served as president between 1858 and 1872, now appears on two bank notes as his likeness is already featured on the 20-peso bill.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>Although both notes are blue and feature Ju\u00e1rez, Banxico pointed out that the 500-peso bill is larger than the 20 and that the former is made of cotton paper whereas the latter is plastic.\u00a0<\/em><em>Bank of M\u00e9xico governor Alejandro D\u00edaz de Le\u00f3n said the decision to change the 500-peso note was made because it is the most widely circulated and most counterfeited denomination.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The new bill features a range of security features including fluorescent ink, a dynamic thread, embossing perceptible by touch, a watermark and a multi-color\u00a0denomination.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>A new 200-peso bill, featuring independence heroes Miguel Costilla y Hidalgo and Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Morelos on one side and the El Pinacate desert biosphere reserve on the other, will enter into circulation next year, while a new 1,000-peso note will be issued in 2020.\u00a0<\/em><em>The latter will pay homage to the Mexican Revolution, with images of Francisco I. Madero, Carmen Serd\u00e1n and Hermila Galindo on one side. The opposite side will feature Campeche\u2019s Calakmul Biosphere Reserve.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>The 500-peso bill was first issued in 1994 and featured an image of army general Ignacio Zaragoza.\u00a0<\/em><em>The Frida and Diego bill appeared in 2010 but will now be gradually withdrawn from circulation.<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"boh675bXNV\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/mexiconewsdaily.com\/news\/juarez-gray-whale-grace-new-banknote\/\">Benito Ju\u00e1rez, gray whale grace new 500-peso banknote<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" src=\"https:\/\/mexiconewsdaily.com\/news\/juarez-gray-whale-grace-new-banknote\/embed\/#?secret=boh675bXNV\" data-secret=\"boh675bXNV\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" title=\"&#8220;Benito Ju\u00e1rez, gray whale grace new 500-peso banknote&#8221; &#8212; Mexico News Daily\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So, look for the new bills, coming your way. I already discovered my dog took one of those old Diego Rivera 500 peso notes out of circulation for me. I found a half-eaten one she had dragged out of my Mexico backpack. What a bummer.<\/p>\n<p>I have sad news, Bud Bottoms, the creator of the Dolphin Fountain Sculpture on The Malecon passed away, John Strawn, the owner of the Loft Gallery left a nice heartfelt sentiment remembering Bud, it reads\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>The Dolphin Sculpture on the Malecon will be flowing with tears; We&#8217;ve just lost its creator Bud Bottoms of Santa Barbara who passed away at 90 years of age. The fountain was a gift to the people of Puerto Vallarta from the Santa Barbara Sister Cities group in 1987. Bud was a wonderful spirit whose life exemplified the embrace of art, friendship, environmental justice and peace. I was there for one of Gary Beck\u2019s foodie groups, and it was restaurant week. We had a wonderful dinner, and I had a chance to meet some really interesting people.
