It\u2019s a consignment store in the heart of the romantic zone and it\u2019s called Deja New. All to help tamp down the spread of the rona..now keep in mind the rules may change and be tweaked between now and Christmas day and this applies only to Puerto Vallarta which is being treated differently that the rest of Jalisco..but here\u2019s what we know so far\u2026<\/p>\n<p>From an article in reporte diario&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><em>Puerto Vallarta will only close clubs and bars.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Restaurants may work.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>-Puerto Vallarta will only close clubs and bars from December 25 to January 10, while New Year&#8217;s parties in hotels, lounges and event terraces will be suspended.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>After announcing the containment measures of Covid-19 by the Governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro Ram\u00edrez, many doubts appear, however, Puerto Vallarta will only close clubs and bars, from January 25 to 10. The New Year&#8217;s parties that take place in salons, hotels and terraces are suspended.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>These are the measures for Puerto Vallarta, the other guidelines will be focused on the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This is due to an effort by Mayor Arturo D\u00e1valos Pe\u00f1a, who intervened so that the same measures were not taken, since the economy in Puerto Vallarta depends on tourism.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>However, the municipal government reiterates that they must continue with health protocols, thus being able to control infections<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>For religious and worship events, the capacity is restricted to 25 percent and the disinfection of the premises must be guaranteed after each celebration; Choirs and songs, as well as dancing groups and any manifestation that gathers people, are suspended.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As I said there may be some tweaking here and there, but they don\u2019t want people to get together and party. When I was in town in November there was a partial shutdown the whole week I was there until the very last night. This time down I will be there the last night of the shutdown, and then everything will be open again for the remainder of my stay so just the opposite this time.<\/p>\n<p>So once again not a full shutdown but a partial shutdown in Jalisco and in Puerto Vallarta.<\/p>\n<h3>Jalisco\u2019s Former Governor Aristoteles Sandoval Diaz, Assassinated in Puerto Vallarta<\/h3>\n<p>While we were gone for a short week this happens in our fair city of Puerto Vallarta\u2026the ex-mayor of Guadalajara and former Governor of Jalisco, Aristoteles Sandoval Diaz, was knocked off, actually Assassinated in Puerto Vallarta last Friday December 21<sup>st<\/sup> in the early morning hours at a<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 0;\" tabindex=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!4v1608794808051!6m8!1m7!1sDw9o_AbhJv9ZMrxlwUZxnA!2m2!1d20.64468030415422!2d-105.2367421458278!3f54.773685!4f0!5f0.7820865974627469\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" aria-hidden=\"false\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>restaurant, sport\u2019s bar, hookah lounge called Discrtito 5 across from the La Isla Mall, and right next door to La Vaca Argentina that great steakhouse on thee main drag Francisco Asencio, highway 200 that goes through town.<\/p>\n<p>The ex- governor was there for several hours with several people and he got up to take a leak and was followed into the bathroom by someone who shot him in the back and afterwards made an escape. The investigation was hampered by the fact that employees were directed to clean up the mess the blood and the bullet casings before authorities arrived and somehow, the video of surveillance system was tampered with or was missing altogether.<\/p>\n<p>Here, let me read from this report from the BBC\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>Mr. Sandoval was having dinner at the Distrito 5 restaurant in the center of Puerto Vallarta with three other people when the attack occurred.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Investigators believe that it was meticulously planned as the gunman waited until Mr. Sandoval went to the bathroom, leaving behind his two bodyguards.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>He was shot in the back but was not instantly killed. When his bodyguards tried to get him out of the restaurant and to a hospital, gunmen outside opened fire on them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In a video uploaded to Twitter by a local TV station, dozens of shots can be heard ringing out. The bodyguards managed to drive Mr. Sandoval to hospital, but he died of his wounds.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Jalisco state&#8217;s Attorney-General Gerardo Sol\u00eds said that when police arrived at the restaurant, they found that the crime scene had been altered.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;When police arrived, restaurant staff had removed all the evidence inside. They&#8217;d practically cleaned the scene of the crime. This is going to hamper the investigation because the crime scene has literally been disturbed,&#8221; Mr. Sol\u00eds said.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The owner of the restaurant and its staff are being questioned by police.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mr. Sandoval&#8217;s time in office was overshadowed by violent attacks carried out by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-latin-america-55394843\">https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-latin-america-55394843<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Governor who was only 46, was a rising star in Mexican Politics. He was a member of the PRI, he served as Mayor of Guadalajara from 2010-2012. He was the youngest Mayor to have governed Guadalajara and then in 2012 ran against The current Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro for Governor and beat him. \u00a0Aristoteles Sandoval Diaz was just getting back into the political arena at the time of his untimely death in Puerto Vallarta. Some are saying it was a cartel hit while others were saying it was a political hit. We may never know but, it is a bad look for the port city. There is a heavy presence of National Guard and Marines and police stepping it up and making themselves very visible. The ballenas are in the bay and as far as I know there are no nighttime whale watching tours on the bay. Just remember to use one of the legal whale- watching tours. Do not hire a panga to take you up to visit Moby dick. There are designated whale watching tours and the bigger the boat, the farther you will be from the action. You can see the whales from the land of course. Spend some time in the mornings looking over the bay and if you get lucky, you can catch a spout and a splash. He was spotted by my buddy Marty who said he say him near parquet de Los Azulejos, tile park, while Marty and his lovely wife were at Burros Bar. So look for Rodolfo when you are on the Malecon. I will be looking for him next month.<\/p>\n<h3>Update on Marta<\/h3>\n<p>Over the last 2 months I have been telling you the story about Marta and my lost daypack. I left my daypack with all my recording gear and more on a public bus when I was in Vallarta back in November and someone found it, got in touch with me and wanted to trade it for pesos. Marta wanted a reward for returning my Mochila..my daypack. So I finally gave in to the lady, I offered her 150 US, 3000 pesos and she wanted 250 US, 5000 pesos. My wife said no\u2026don\u2019t pay her. She shouldn\u2019t do that and you shouldn\u2019t encourage her by paying her for it. I on the other hand was torn between giving up the equipment and the interviews on the recorder that she had that I hadn\u2019t aired on the podcast. I decided to pay the ransom and sent the money to my friend Anastacio to make the trade, and I don\u2019t know what he said to Marta, but she must have been shamed pretty badly by him because she contacted me and offered me back 2000 pesos. She said he told her he wanted her picture so I could embarrass her in front of my audience and on social media. So\u2026now she felt bad and wanted to return some of the money. Sheesh\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I told her that Anastacio was probably telling you the way he felt, but that was not my plan. I just wanted her picture to share with the listeners as part of the story. Not to shame her. Anyway, I told her to keep the cash, and that I wouldn\u2019t share her picture with all my listeners\u2026so sorry about that\u2026I like to keep my word. So you will never get a chance to meet dear Marta\u2026.unless you bump into me\u2026then I\u2019ll share it with you.<\/p>\n<h3>Sending a Letter By Post or a Letter in a Bottle?<\/h3>\n<p>Mail service has been spotty as of late, especially during the time of the covid\u2026but if you think it takes longer to send a letter, check this out from Mexico News Daily\u2026.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u2018Rapid delivery\u2019 letter took 4 months to get from Monterrey to Dallas<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Fittingly, the envelope bore postmark stickers with images of turtles<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Published on Monday, December 21, 2020<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It took 116 days for a letter mailed through the Mexican postal service to get from Monterrey, Nuevo Le\u00f3n, to Dallas, Texas, the newspaper Reforma reported.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And that was after paying for \u201crapid delivery.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mexico\u2019s notoriously slow mail service was the focus of an experiment by newspaper staff, who mailed the letter on August 25 as an experiment to test the post office\u2019s efficiency. The letter finally arrived at its destination in Dallas \u2014 ironically with two postmark stickers bearing images of turtles \u2014 on Saturday, four months later.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Other letters were sent at the regular price to the municipalities of Allende, Nuevo Le\u00f3n, M\u00fazquiz, Coahuila, and even to a neighborhood in west Monterrey but they have yet to arrive despite being guaranteed delivery within two weeks.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The address in the Monterrey neighborhood to which the letter was sent is only 15 kilometers from the post office where reporters dropped it off.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The letter to Dallas, Reforma said, apparently did not even leave the Monterrey office where it was dropped off until September 11, i.e., 17 days after it was given to postal staff.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The newspaper also highlighted the story of Ernesto Rowe, an American citizen who tried to vote by absentee ballot in the recent U.S. presidential election but was unable to after his mailed-in ballot ended up in limbo in a post office in Mexico City.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Correos Mexico has suffered under competition from private mail services and the technological advances that has reduced the use of postal services around the world. Nevertheless, Reforma said, its snail\u2019s pace is an issue in light of the fact that it managed a budget of 5.4 billion pesos this year.
