Johnny has sold oysters on Los Muertos Beach for many years, and our friend Robina Oliver, the swimsuit queen brought Johnny to our attention as his health had taken a turn and she has stepped up to help. I mean\u2026you can\u2019t keep down the human spirit\u2026you just can\u2019t.<\/p>\n<h3>Cruise Ships and Passengers Turned Away in Puerto Vallarta<\/h3>\n<p>Have you noticed an uptick in even the vaccinated getting the sniffles? Looks like fully vaccinated cruise ships are having some rare breakthrough cases and that actually caused several ships to be turned away at ports in Mexico including Puerto Vallarta. I still need to find a place for the remaining 4 nights but I intend to stumble into something along the way. I like to sleep around. It\u2019s just a block north of Mandala right where the Restaurant Dulce Vida is. It\u2019s \u00a0set back behind the Ban Norte Building with a shared lounge area overlooking the Malecon on Josefa Ortiz with La Chata on the<span style=\"font-size: 1.8rem;\">opposite corner. I know I\u2019m totally crazy being a light sleeper and all, but I couldn\u2019t help myself. The location was intriguing, it\u2019s new so the bed hasn\u2019t been selpt in by hundreds of people yet. We\u2019ll see. I have already packed my wax earplugs, and if I really can\u2019t sleep\u2026I just might be knocking on one of your doors out there around 2 in the morning. You know who you are. The room was $48 a night so we\u2019ll see. I thought that would be a great alternative to having the probe up the nose so I said I would check to see if a saliva test was allowed, to qualify to fly to the US. And for what I can see on the interwebs, it is permitted. But I will do it. I\u2019ll try it out and report back to you when I get back from trip number 9.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll be spending time in Yelapa and hopefully Talpa de Allende or Tequila One or the other. Talpa most likely.<\/p>\n<p>Other things that are pretty exciting that I can\u2019t share right now, but when I get back, I hope to have something personal to share about my future plans. A guy with a great voice who would announce himself the way Ed McMahan used to announce Johnny Carson\u2019s name at the beginning of the tonight show in the old days, when it was funny. She could hardly recognize the man. And he had told her his knees were damaged from walking in the sand every day for years on end, selling oysters to tourists.<\/p>\n<p>His vision was bad and he was in need of an eye doctor and needed to have dental work done. And she got quite a response including offers to help Johnny from those who remembered him from Los Muertos Beach. From that came the creation of a Facebook page called Johnny\u2019s Fan Club For Donors where she give updates as to how and where donated money is being spent, how much is collected and how much is left over as a balance. Currently Robina has taken Johnny to a doc for his knees, a dentist, an eye doctor and more I\u2019m sure I\u2019m missing here. Robina found Johnny an apartment. It\u2019s small, I\u2019ve been there. But it\u2019s clean and safe and right in town, in the Romantic zone. People have donated items to help furnish his little apartment, and what Johnny really needs, is to be able to work again\u2026I\u2019m going to let Johnny tell you a little about it. I met with Johnny and Robina at his apartment. Robina made the introductions.
