It was a lovely evening at Teatro Vallarta. Those who attended had a real treat and you can see some of it yourself if you go to the RISE Facebook page. I have a link to that in the shownotes. Lisa and Billy did an awesome job putting this huge event together. 4 Months of planning and execution and they say they will have another next year. How about that. They raised lots of money for the kids at RISE and showcased the talent out there in Puerto Vallarta. 10,000 pesos was the prize\u2026so $500 US. Great job Billy and Lisa. It\u2019s called Vinomo Fest. This is an exhibition of Mexican Wineries who will pair their wines with some of the tastiest food in Vallarta.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday and Sunday the 19<sup>th<\/sup> and 20<sup>th<\/sup> of March from 3 in the afternoon till 10 in the evening. Ill have a link in the shownotes\u2026sounds like fun.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vinomafest.com\/\">https:\/\/vinomafest.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Water Shortage in Puerto Vallarta<\/h3>\n<p>A couple of weeks back we had Bob Price from The Vallarta Botanical Garden on the show and he reminded us about something that I want to remind you all about, and that is Vallarta is suffering from a water shortage. Even though rainy season is still 4 months off, The Puerto Vallarta area is in water rationing mode. Part of the reason is the unbridled growth. Condos popping up left and right, right? Water management is another major problem. The city hired an Israeli firm to assess the situation and these people said the city looses 2 months\u2019 worth of water a year in leakage alone. Old, leaky pipes are responsible for the loss of two whole months of fresh water. It\u2019s hard to believe. Water storage is another issue as well as corruption cited by the new mayor of Vallarta Professor Michel. Muchas problemas and the saddest part of it is the poor in the outlying colonias get restrictions and rationing before the more lucky and privileged in the tourist areas is you know what I mean.<\/p>\n<p>So I\u2019m asking you to be conscious of your water usage while in paradise. Think about taking a Navy shower like my dad taught me when I was a kid. My dad was in the army, but he was in charge of a boat during the Korean War\u2026go figure.<\/p>\n<h3>What is a Navy style shower?<\/h3>\n<p><em>A Navy shower (also known as a &#8220;combat shower&#8221;, &#8220;military shower&#8221;, &#8220;sea shower&#8221;, &#8220;staggered shower&#8221;, or &#8220;G.I. bath&#8221;) is a method of showering that allows for significant conservation of water and energy by turning off the flow of water in the middle portion of the shower while lathering.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yAr1hdExL-w\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And I actually have a video embedded of some dude taking a Navy shower in the shownotes. It\u2019s pretty cute.<\/p>\n<p>So think about shortening up on the shower. It\u2019s pretty easy to do the Navy shower in Vallarta because it\u2019s usually pretty warm and you don\u2019t necessarily need the steady stream of warm water on your back. I understand the tendency to overuse water when visiting a hotel or resort. You figure hey, I\u2019m paying good money for the water and I\u2019m going to use it. So, try to resist the urge.<\/p>\n<p>And speaking of the urge and wine, you may want to keep the adage in mind and take it to heart if you are staying alone or among friends. If you got to pee, you don\u2019t have to flush between every use, right? You know\u2026if it\u2019s yellow it\u2019s mellow and if it\u2019s brown flush it down? Okay\u2026Just another water saving tip. We all need to be \u00a0conscious and deliberate about water. It\u2019s a \u00a0precious resource.<\/p>\n<h3>Jalisco Relaxes Restrictions But Still Holds Vax Pass<\/h3>\n<p>Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramirez announced the loosening of his most recent covid restrictions, namely the limit of the number of diners in restaurants, lodgers in hotels, audiences in clubs and theaters, but for now. The Vax Pass is still in effect and that includes the barring of entrance to bars, nightclubs and theaters to non-vaccinated individuals.
