Felipe Reyes of Felipe’s Spa in Puerto Vallarta

Hello fellow travelers, welcome this episode of the Puerto Vallarta Travel show. I am your host Barry Kessler and I am just so happy to be introducing you to my favorite vacation destination, and maybe even yours, Puerto Vallarta Mexico.

La Palapa, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

That music you were just listening to is performed by Alberto Perez, the owner of the La Palapa Group of Restaurants. Those are La Palapa, Puerto Vallarta’s Oldest Restaurant on the famous Los Muertos Beach, and The El Dorado Restaurant and Beach Club right next door so you can enjoy that fantastic view of the Los Muertos Pier all lit up at night in beautiful colors, or during the day in its grand splendor for breakfast, lunch or dinner, seated with our toes in the sand right at the water’s edge. It’s so romantic, it’s so, Puerto Vallarta my friends.

Gabino The Pull Tab Purse Maker Still Needs Some Help

Note From Tammy From Nacho Daddy:

Our good friends and Family Gabino and Yolanda had fire at there home on Friday night. 1st of all everyone is ok. But they lost

Fire at Gabino’s House

everything in the room. Everything for 5 people, a 18 month baby, 2 pre teen girls, a young woman and a young man. All clothes beds bedding, school supplies… You may know Gabino he and his family make the pop top purses. They are a very hard working family.

At the moment, it’s important to rebuild Gabino’s home. They are in dire need of doors and windows. There is some money, enough to repair the roof of the house, but without doors and windows, animals and well, anything just comes in the house.

Gabino Sandoval with his Wife and Two of His Children

Right now, the family needs money for doors and windows. Later, they will need beds to replace the ones burnt in the fire. They will need clothes to replace the ones lost to the fire but for now. They need the cash.

We will be taking donations at Nacho Daddy. Or if you see them at a market please buy a purse from them.

Gracias

Gary Thompson Malecon Tour

Season 13 of the Free Malecon Sculpture Tours by Gary Thompson starts tomorrow. The morning tour runs Tuesday mornings and covers half of the Malecon. The sunset tour runs Thursday evenings and covers the second half.

Join Gary and learn the history and the stories behind the monumental bronze pieces mounted on Vallarta’s beautiful boardwalk.

In the morning, also meet Kevin Simpson (from Colectika and Peyote People), who explains the Huichol symbols on the Malecon; and Mathis Lidice, the artist responsible for the Millennium Sculpture, who talk to the audience at the beginning of the tour.

In the evening, meet Jim Demetro, the artist behind several of the pieces showcased in the tour, at his own gallery/studio, where he talks about his work in town.

Gary Thompson Malecon Evening Tour

The tours are free, but donations are gratefully accepted to benefit Los Mangos Cultural Center 100%.

And if you haven’t been on a Sculpture tour, you should. You will get a much better understanding of the beautiful, sometimes funky and strange sculptures. I have an episode of the tour in the catalog so look it up and listen.

Okay The cost for that is 850 pesos so like $45 for a 3 hour paddle in the dark. So cool!

There is a place either in nuevo or Bucerias that shows the movie Jaws, while you float on the water in the bay. I looked it up and to my surprise, there are loads of places in the US where you can watch what they call Jaws on The Water.

Getting a Massage in Puerto Vallarta at Felipe’s Therapeutic Spa

Felipe’s in Puerto Vallarta

Sometimes when you walk on the south-side of Vallarta, you are surprised at how many massage places you see. I figured it was time I interviewed one of these masseuses. So I’m sitting with my buddy Bob McCuaig on my last visit, and he starts talking about this Masseuse, Felipe who he and his wife go to in town and he tells me he’s also a great dancer. A salsa dancer, and since one of you listeners had requested some Salsa dancing advice, I thought I could kill two birds with one stone. I found out later, that Felipe is a famous marathon runner as well. So I walked over to his place, and stuck my head inside his parlor, I guess you call it. Told him what I do, and he agreed to an interview. He told me to put my name on the calendar on the window of his place, and I returned the next day with recorder and microphones in hand, to his cool studio where we talked about massage in Puerto Vallarta. So let’s go right now to Ignacio L. Vallarta 371 on the Southside of Puerto Vallarta, and let’s meet the man with the magic hands, The Greyhound, el Galgo, Felipe Reyes of Felipe’s Therapeutic Spa…
